BATTAGRAM: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf activists here have accused their own tehsil government of unjust distribution of development funds, saying it is focusing on a few union councils while ignoring others.

PTI’s Battagram chapter former president Syed Amal Shah and tehsil council member Niaz Mohammad told mediapersons that they felt embarrassed over the incompetence of their own tehsil government, as it was working against the party agenda and promoting a few personalities.

They said that the tehsil council’s ADP funds for 2017-18 had been distributed among selected council members in a clandestine manner.

They said that several other members and their respective areas had been ignored in distribution of funds.

They alleged that the tehsil nazim and TMA staff were collecting commission and bribes which left nothing to the contractors to do quality work on different schemes.

The two activists said that the provincial government’s development fund and chief minister’s special fund were being utilised in injudicious manner.

They alleged that the nazim gave funds to those union councils and members from where he expected commission.

They said that Battagram main bazaar had no facility for the traders, while there was no cleanliness system and people had encroached parts of the bazaar.

They said that TMA had been collecting revenue from Thakot bazaar, but it lacked streetlights, slaughterhouse and other facilities.

They said that the tehsil council had failed to provide fire engines to Thakot despite several requests.

The PTI activists said that despite clear policy of the government a sports stadium had not been built in the tehsil. They announced to hold a protest demonstration against the tehsil government on Monday (tomorrow).
