MUZAFFARABAD: A young boy was injured after being hit by Indian firing in Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, officials said.

Mohammad Habib, a student of sixth grade, was targeted by some trigger-happy Indian soldier from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Panjni Datot village of Nakyal sector, said Assistant Commissioner Waleed Anwar.

The boy received a bullet to his right leg and was admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital Kotli, he added.

The heavily militarised LoC has been witnessing frequent ceasefire violations by Indian troops in a serious breach of a truce agreement signed in November 2003,

and as a result around 52 deaths have occurred in AJK in the ongoing year alone, apart from injuries to more than 255 people.
