LAKKI MARWAT: Doctors and paramedics observed a strike in the government city hospital here on Saturday to protest against the harsh attitude of the Lakki Marwat district health officer.

The protesting employees wore black armbands while the doctors did not examine the patients in the outpatient department up to 10am. The closure of OPD confronted ailing people with problems.

The paramedical staff and other hospital employees also stayed away from duty, causing problems to patients and their attendants. The strike call was given by local chapters of paramedics, young doctors and clerks associations and other employees of the district health department.

Earlier, at a meeting held on the premises of the hospital, the paramedics’ association president Tariq Sardar along with Dr Attaur Rehman of YDA and others announced to observe strike for three days against DHO Dr Taus Khan for what they called treating doctors and paramedics inhumanly.

He demanded immediate transfer of the DHO from the district and said the health employees would hold a demonstration on the premises of district health office on Dec 26 if their demand was not met.
