TOBA TEK SINGH: Several shanties of gypsy families caught a fire outside Chak 716-GB near Kamalia late on Friday.

Residents told reporters that valuables kept in the huts had reduced to ashes. One family lost Rs262,000 bills in the fire.

They extinguished the fire by their own efforts.

When reporters, union council chairman Syed Aftab Shah and police officials visited the site, the residents were crying over their loss.

They said they had burnt wood to keep themselves warm on the freezing night but the fire spread and burnt their huts.

ROAD CRASH: Eight people were injured in two road accidents here in Gojra on Saturday.

Gojra Saddar police said five members of a family of Kamalia were traveling in a car when a Faisalabad-Chishtian bus hit their four-wheeler near Gojra bypass road.

The car was completely damaged and five passengers Waqas, Azan, Irfan, Siddiq and Salamat Bibi were critically wounded. The injured people were admitted to the Gojra Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital.

In another accident on M-4 motorway near Gojra interchange toll plaza, a car hit the median strip leaving driver Imran and Fatima and Uzma injured.

They injured persons were admitted to the Gojra THQ Hospital.
