LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) teams on Saturday sealed 31 meat points in different districts of the province for allegedly selling unwholesome stuff and other issues.

According to a handout, the teams sealed four meat sale points in Lahore, five in Rawalpindi, three in Multan and two each in Gujranwala and Faisalabad for [allegedly] selling sick, emaciated and dead chicken meat to citizens.

PFA Director General Noorul Amin Mengal said the teams were formed to overcome meat/chicken-related issues and ensure sale of healthy stuff.

He said the teams were established at district level and would report to headquarters [Lahore] on a daily basis about their performance.

Mengal said the teams would also monitor slaughterhouses on a regular basis.

He said the shops were sealed for not adopting cone slaughtering system, use of dirty water, blue drums and other hygiene issues.
