KUALA LUMPUR: In a truly brilliant display of netball, Pakistan edged past a strong Singapore side in the semi-final of the Asian Netball Championship here on Saturday to set up a grand finale with arch-rivals India who defeated hosts Malaysia in the other semi-final.

Pakistan, maintaining their supremacy in the tournament which has seen them remaining unbeaten throughout, beat Singapore 75-63 to qualify for the final.

Mohammad Akhtar, Usman Bashir, Abid Ali, Mohammad Khursheed, Naseeb Raza, Masoom Abbas, Haris Kamal, Zahid Iqbal and Samad Masood put up fabulous performances to create scoring opportunities and never really allowed Singapore to bounce back during the crunch game.

Earlier, India beat Malaysia in the first semi-final 47-44 to reach the final which is scheduled for Sunday.

It may be mentioned here that Pakistan beat India 70-42 in their pool match earlier in the continental championship and are confident of repeating the feat on Sunday.
