WASHINGTON: A US-based grant provider said on Tuesday that Pakistan had asked a number of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in the country to cease their operations.
The Open Society Foundation said its national foundation in Pakistan was among those NGOs who recently received a letter from the Interior Ministry, saying that they must cease operations in Pakistan in just 60 days.
The ministry has given affected organisations 90 days to lodge an appeal but did not clarify how this process will be managed.
