NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, May 2: Crops standing on 200 acres of land in deh Kot Ghulam Shah, taluka Kandiaro, were inundated on Monday due to a 50 feet breach that occurred in Shera Minor which was later plugged by the villagers and the irrigation staff.

EDO Revenue, Mr Sikandar Ali Khushik, alongwith the lower staff and taluka police officer, Fida Hussain Awan, reached the spot and announced on loudspeaker enabling the nearby villages to shift their valuables.

The Executive Engineer, Jam Mitha Khan, also reached the spot.

Tractors trolleys and irrigation staff were engaged and the breach was plugged after eight hours struggle.

The irrigation officials said that the breach occurred due to heavy rain that lashed the town of Sunday night.

However, the farmers of the affected villages Dater Dino Kalhoro, Hayat Siyal and Razi Kalhoro, where some houses were inundated, accused the irrigation staff of negligence.

EDO Revenue, Sikandar Ali Khushik said that he had deputed a team of tapedars headed by the Mukhtiarkar to ascertain losses caused due to the breach.

The EDO said that the wheat lying in the fields was damaged. One Baildar, Ghulam Hussain and a surveyor Badar Larik and Darogha Kamil Shah were suspended for dereliction in duty.
