Trump’s decision

Published December 12, 2017

DONALD Trump’s decision to recognise Jerusalem as the Israeli capital will have a ruinous impact on global peace prospect especially the Middle East. He has flouted the warnings of Muslim countries and signed the move without the fear of a severe backlash on the part of the Islamic world.

With a stroke of his pen he has aroused feelings of anger and hatred against the US all over the Muslim world.

Since his ascendancy to the White House, Trump has shown disregard for all agreements and pacts signed by previous US presidents.

By slapping a travel ban on the nationals of seven — later six — Muslim countries during his early days in the office, Trump made his prejudice against Muslims clear.

Muslim states must set aside their differences and draw up a joint strategy to deal with the situation.

DONAL Trump’s decision has made every right-thinking person feel flabbergasted.

His unilateral announcement about a century-old issue is in violation of international law and Security Council resolutions.

He must know the world is not going to accept his decision. Although the Trump decision is being criticised as if it is his personal decision, a coterie of pro-Israel lobbyists has helped him make this announcement. Whatever the state of relationship between important Muslim capitals, they all are united on the Jerusalem issue. The Christians feel angered.
