KARACHI, May 2: Sindh Culture Minister Shabbir Ahmed Qaimkhani has said that it was our responsibility to share grief and happiness of those artists who had devoted their lives for the promotion of art. He said this while presenting cheques of Rs20,000 each to well-known artists Guraj Babu and Amanat Ali Mughal.

Mr Qaimkhani said that the department was unable to redress all the problems of artists due to limited resources .

He said his department had distributed cheques of Rs20,000 each to film star Mushtaque Changezi and Ghazzal Jaffari widow of well-known writer and poet Asad Jaffari, Rs10,000 each to folk singers Shabana Panhwar and Karim Faquir, Rs20,000 to writer and poet Saeed Memon, Rs5,000 to Ayesha Baloch, Rs15,000 to folk singer Photo Jogi for his treatment and Rs40,000 to the senior artist Lehri.

The Sindh government is awarding monthly stipend to 244 artists of Sindh, he added.—APP
