PESHAWAR, Oct 20: Japan will provide technical assistance to the NWFP government for polio eradication.
This was stated by a delegation of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) during its meeting with NWFP Health Minister Inayatullah here on Monday.
The delegation, led by Hiroshi Yoshikura, director-general of the National Institute of Infectious Diseases, Japan, discussed ways and means for effective implementation of the five-year technical assistance project for improvement of health sector in Buner and Shangla districts.
Under the project to be initiated next year, capacity building of health workers, establishment of expanded surveillance system, strengthening of routine expanded programme on immunization and improvement of diagnostic facilities in laboratories of the target districts would be focussed.
SEMINAR: Speakers at a one-day seminar said that men and women should be educated about the diseases related to the womenfolk.
The seminar, entitled “October Breast Cancer Awareness Month”, was organized by an NGO, Blue Veins, here on Monday to create awareness about the disease through advocacy, awareness and action.
Blue Veins chairperson Shaheen Qureshi said October was being observed to create much-needed awareness among the womenfolk about the breast cancer.
