BADIN: A teacher allegedly subjected a four-year-old student of nursery class to ruthless torture, causing multiple injuries to the left eye of the minor boy at a school in Tando Bago town, 22 kilometres from here, on Thursday.

Zulfikar Leghari, father of Abu Hurera, told local journalists his son was tortured by the principal of a private school. When he went to the school to pick his son he found him lying unconscious in a pool of blood in the classroom, he said.

He said that he immediately brought his son to a local hospital because his left eye appeared to have been seriously hit by a blow, but the doctors referred him to Hyderabad because of serious condition.

He told journalists on phone from Hyderabad that he feared his son’s eye had been damaged forever and appealed to high-ups to take action against the “merciless” teacher.

The teacher rejected the father’s allegations and claimed the boy might have suffered injuries in a fight with his classmates outside the school building.

SHO Hakim Ali Jalbani told Dawn that “police will arrest [the teacher] the moment the FIR is registered by the victim’s father,” he said.
