LAHORE: Javed A. Khan took lead in the senior amateur event of the 35th Punjab Amateur Golf Championships which teed off at Lahore Gymkhana on Thursday.

Javed of Lahore Gymkhana posted a card of gross 79, leaving behind seasoned rivals Shoaib Bokhari and Imran Ahmed.

Considering that this was a race amongst the seniors, who are over 55 years of age but less than 70, the competitive touch was sharp indeed and victory for Javed came through steady application of skills.

Shoaib and Imran remained in the run for most part of the day but somehow missed putts on the closing holes prevented them from taking lead.

Both Shoaib and Imran are chasing the leader with the difference of two strokes by putting in identical cards of 81.

The seniors net section was dominated by Ishfaq Khalid of Gymkhana with a score of par-72. Asad Hameed by one stroke and Dr Hamid Awan by two strokes are behind the leader.
