KARACHI, Aug 28: A joint team of police ‘Anti-Violent Crime Cell’ and Citizen Police Liaison Committee arrested two kidnappers and recovered a hostage from a hideout in Site area, late on Wednesday night.

According to a CPLC statement, Ghulam Husain Somroo, a close associate of Arshad alias Pappu, son of Haji Laloo, allegedly kidnapped Abdul Samad, son of Haji Hanif, a businessman on Aug 24.

Soomro, along with Mohammad Akbar, Imran and two other accomplices came in a hired taxi at the residence of Haji Hanif in Garden West, and called Abdul Samad and whisked him away in the taxi, at gunpoint, after blindfolding him.

They took him to a place from where they called the family through a mobile phone, demanding a ransom of Rs3 million. Consequently, an FIR was lodged at the Garden police the statement added.

It said that the family was briefed and trained by the CPLC cheif to engage the kidnappers in negotiations, while in the meantime the calls were traced with the help of sophisticated devices to trace the location of the phone.
