QUETTA: The chief of Jamaat-i-Islami, Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that the PML-N government has failed to deliver on all fronts and alleged that it has now become a threat to the existence of the country.

Addressing a seminar titled ‘The role of women in Pakistan building’ on Monday, Mr Haq said the government had failed to bring forth those behind the conspiracy of altering the Khatm-i-Nubuwat declaration and thus was itself responsible for the problems being faced by the people of Islamabad and Rawalpindi because of the Faizabad sit-in.

He asked Senator Raja Zafarul Haq of PML-N not to hide culprits and if Law Minister Zahid Hamid was involved in the matter he should be sacked and punished.

He said that his party was striving for an Islamic system in the country as only that system could resolve problems of the masses.

Mr Haq said that so-called democracy was a joke with the masses and the people coming into power through the vote of masses deemed it their right to loot public money and the masses remained deprived of basic necessities of life.

The JI chief said that this game had been played by feudal lords and chaudhrys for the last 70 years and they had plundered national wealth with impunity and the common man was becoming poor and poor day by day. He praised the role and struggle of Muslim women in Muslim history and said they had offered great sacrifices for the glory and supremacy of Islam since early Islamic era.

He said Muslim women rendered valuable services during the Holy Prophet’s (peace be upon him) migration to Madina and later during battles of Badr, Uhad and Hunain.

He said that womenfolk had also played a leading role in the establishment of Pakistan.

He said the JI had the highest women membership in the country as compared to other political parties and it was the custodian of women’s rights.

He said the JI wanted to build an Islamic welfare state and this was not possible without the active cooperation and participation of women.

Balochistan Jamaat-i-Islami chief Maulana Abdul Haq Hashmi, and JI women wing chief Dr Durdana Siddique also spoke on the occasion.
