KOHAT: The elders of Jungle Khel area of Kohat city have demanded relocation of Afghan refugee camps from the populated areas, saying the government should return their land occupied by the refugees for the last 30 years.

Local councillor Pir Adil Shah said the refugees were selling their land to the people before repatriation. He suggested that the refugees should be moved to other six camps which were located in unpopulated areas of the district.

Speaking at an open forum chaired by additional assistant commissioner Sahibzada Samiullah, the councillor along with local elders also asked for provision of an excavator and a tube-well for Jungle Khel, besides installation of streetlights within one month. The officials of the tehsil municipal administration promised to provide excavator and tube-well to the area within three days. The residents also demanded rationalisation of gas and electricity loadshedding schedule.
