In 2000, a US presidential election year, Democratic-leaning firms in areas with Fox News were about 20pc less likely to report large reductions in employees and property, plants and equipment than Democratic-leaning firms in non-Fox News areas and politically unconnected firms, according to a forthcoming paper in the Journal of Financial Economics.
