HYDERABAD, Aug 27: A division bench of the Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit, on Tuesday issued notices on a contempt of court application to four irrigation officials.
Those served with notices were the then engineer, Kotri Barrage, Bashir Ahmad Dahar, then superintending engineer, left bank circle, Iqbal Ahmad Shah, executive engineer, Phulleli Canal, Agha Aijaz, and the assistant executive engineer, Matli, Abdul Rehman Nizamani.
Murad Wah Tail Abadgar Welfare Association president Sarwar Ali, on behalf of the association, had filed the application before the court, stating therein that the officials had violated the Oct 29, 1998, order of the Sindh High Court.
The matter was disposed of on Oct 29, 1998, when state counsel Mian Khan Malik said on behalf of irrigation official Nisar Shaikh that most of unauthorized pumps were removed.
The petitioner’s counsel submitted a list of 28 Khatedars whose cases of illegal connections were pending in the civil court.
The respondents said lands of members of the welfare association were located at the tail-end of the channel of the Murad Wah.
The petitioner prayed the court to direct the respondents to stop illegal water supply.
