MIRPURKHAS, Aug 27: The district council, Mirpurkhas, has passed a resolution demanding the government to take strict notice of the injustice towards the cotton growers in connection with the illegal reduction of the weight of cotton at cotton factories and collection of illegal charges from the growers on Wednesday.
The meeting was presided over by the convener, Nawab Younus Talpur. It said that action should be taken against the responsible ginners.
Presenting a resolution, Ameer Hassan Kaim Khani demanded that the authorities order an impartial inquiry into reduction of two to four kilograms of cotton and illegal recovery of additional charges of Rs5 per maund on behalf of the cotton ginners.
Khuda Bux Jarwar and Mir Anwar Talpur said that the growers were already facing a financial crisis and now they were being subjected to more excesses by the ginners.
The chair directed the officials of the agriculture extension department to take notice of these complaints and take stern legal action against the ginners involved in malpractice.
ELECTROCUTED: A lineman, Hesco, Samaro sub-division, Mubarak Seenhro, 45, was electrocuted while trying to remove a fault on an electricity pole at Haneefabad on Wednesday.
BOY DIES: Dileep Meghwar, 8, was killed on the spot when the roof of his house collapsed at the Samaro town on Wednesday.
