NAWABSHAH, Aug 26: The activists of the Jeay Sindh Students Federation (JSSF), Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering Science and Technology, observed black day and held a demonstration at the B-sector on Tuesday in protest against President Gen Musharraf’s visit to Mehran University, Jamshoro, regarding construction of the greater Thal canal and Kalabagh Dam.
Wearing black armbands, the activists held a protest demonstration against the president’s visit to Sindh which was meant for mobilizing the people for construction of the greater Thal canal and Kalabagh Dam.
They were led by Suleman Veesar, president, JSSF; Hassan Lashari, chief organizer, and Yasir Chachar.
Addressing the activists, Suleman Veesar said that Gen Musharraf wanted to implement anti-Sindh projects for his vested interests.
He said that Sindh was crying for water but no dam was being constructed in Sindh.
NURSES PROTEST: At least 150 nurses and nursing students of the nursing school, People’s Medical College Hospital, held a protest demonstration in the hospital’s premises against the Sindh health department on Tuesday.
They were led by Mebel Shaheen, president, Pakistan Nursing Federation, People’s Medical College Hospital, Nawabshah.
The nurses and nursing students were demanding the removal of Ubmia Mughal, nursing director, Sindh, from her post.
