SHIKARPUR, Aug 26: The people of Sindh will not allow any government to construct the Kalabagh dam and Greater Thal Canal and will oppose all tactics to pave the way for construction of such projects without consensus of the provinces.
This was stated by Maulana Asadullah Bhutto, the provincial president of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, while talking to journalists here on Tuesday.
Maulana Bhutto said General Pervez Musharraf was trying to adopt new tactics to motivate the people of Sindh, but he would not succeed in getting a nod for the controversial projects which were against the interests of Sindh.
About the Legal Framework Order (LFO), the provincial president said the MMA will continue its drive with the support of its allies and the patriotic people of the country.
SHOT DEAD: A man, Sher Mohammad Jagirani, 60, was shot dead due to an old enmity in Mari village near Hajana village some 6 kilometres from here on Tuesday.
Eight armed men, identified as Gano Jagirani, Bashir Ahmed, Mir, Mohammad Saleh, Sardar, Ayaz, Ali Nawaz and Hassan Jagirani, allegedly shot dead Sher Mohammad Jagirani.
The Lakhi police have registered an FIR and arrested the main accused, Gano Jagirani.
