LAHORE, Jan 5: Naseer Ahmad will take part in the eighth Asian Marathon Race to be held in Hong Kong on Feb 24.
The decision was taken by the Pakistan Amateur Athletic Federation (PAAF) selection committee.
A spokesman of the PAAF said Saturday that Nasrullah of Navy had been appointed as manager of the one-member team.
The meeting was headed by chief selector Brig. Khalid Sajjad Khokhar.
The spokesman said that the trials to select men and women teams for the Al-fajr athletic championship to be held in Iran from Jan 7 to 9 will be held at Jinnah Stadium, Islamabad on Jan 10.
The trials for men will be held in the 60m, 200m, 400m, 1500m, 60m hurdles, shot put, pole vault and long jump. The trials for women will be held in 200m, 400m, 60m hurdles, shot put and high jump.
The Pakistan men and women teams will also take part in the Commonwealth Games to be held at Manchester from July 25,2002.
The trials to select both the teams will be held at the Jinnah Stadium on Jan 26.
The trials for men will be held in the 100m, 200m, 110m hurdles, 400m, 1500m, high jump, shot put, discus throw and javelin throw. The trials for women will only be held in the shot put and 100m hurdles.
The selection committee also decided to review the performance of the probables and coaches of the training camp which is in progress at Islamabad to prepare teams for the ninth SAF Games to be held at Islamabad from March 30 to April 7.
