TIMERGARA: Provincial minister for finance Muzaffar Said has said that Rs400 million has been approved for the development and beautification of Timergara city.

He said that the projects also included construction of roads, pavement of streets and installation of streetlights.

He was addressing a function organised by Jamaat-i-Islami, Rabat, at Rashkhani Siar Darra on Saturday. He said that classes in the Timergara Medical College would start from next session.

The minister claimed the provincial government had established the rule of law and merit in the province.

He said that the government schools in Lower Dir were given Rs580 million during the last three years for missing facilities.

He said that staff shortage in schools and hospitals had been overcome which had improved service delivery in the education and health sector.

He announced construction of Rashkhani road and provision of power transformer to the village. On this occasion, PTI Khungi council vice-president Humayun Khan, Amanullah, Umar Sadiq, Mohammad Wazir and their supporters announced joining of Jamaat-i-Islami.

Meanwhile, Lower Dir JI announced the names of its emirs for different tehsils. According to a statement, Sher Bahadar was elected as Timergara tehsil chief; Majidullah, Balambat tehsil chief; Hafiz Noorul Haq, Khall chief; Mufti Mujibur Rehman, Munda chief; Abdul Khabir Adenzai tehsil chief; Musharraf Shah as Maidan chief; and Najmullah, Samarbagh tehsil chief.

STORE GUTTED: Fire broke out in a shop in Samar Bagh on Saturday, destroying ghee, sugar and other food items.

Residents said that they rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire.

The fire partially damaged the store of one Zubir Shah, a local trader. The police have registered the case.

Talking to mediapersons, the store owner said that all items in the store had been turned into ashes when he reached there early in the morning.

The local traders have demanded of the provincial government to compensate the affected shopkeeper.
