BAHAWALPUR, Aug 24: A woman and her five-year-old son were burnt seriously when her former husband threw acid on them at Chak 75-F near Hasilpur.
Azizan Bibi had refused to remarry with alleged accused Abdul Ghafoor, who then made her target of acid attack when she was asleep along with her son Aamir. They were rushed to the Hasilpur THQ Hospital where their condition was described as critical. The alleged accused managed to escape from the scene after committing the crime.
As of now, the police have taken no action against the accused.
RESULTS: Sadiq Public School (SPS), Bahawalpur, on Sunday announced the results of ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels with a pass percentage of 100 and 90, respectively.
According to SPS vice-principal Ijaz Hashmi, in the ‘O’ level examination all the 48 students were declared successful. Ali Abbas Rizvi and Umair Bashir secured nine and seven ‘A’ grades, respectively, while Jawad Ali and Syed Ahmed Mujtaba Rizvi bagged six ‘A’ grades each.
Senior house master Prof Noman Ahmed said that in the ‘A’ level examination, around 20 candidates out of 21 were declared successful. Usman Saleem got five ‘A’ grades and clinched the first position in south Punjab. Hafiz Farhan obtained four ‘A’ grades while Zubair, Taimoor Zia and Ammar Zafar got three ‘A’ grades each.
TRAIN: The Madar-i-Millat train will reach Bahawalpur railway station on Monday (today).
On its arrival in the city, warm welcome will be accorded to the train by local officials and people. Local artistes and folk singers of Radio Pakistan, Bahawalpur, will perform on the train to highlight the occasion and the role of Madar-i-Millat in the creation of Pakistan.
ARRESTED: Rustam Bhai and Altaf Bhai, notorious for hunting illegally, were arrested in Cholistan while their two accomplices managed to escape against whom a case was registered here on Sunday.
