Careem, the ride-hailing service that operates in several cities across Pakistan, has just announced the acquisition of Delivery Chacha, an on-demand delivery and errand service operating out of Karachi.

While the precise financial details of the deal are not known, Nashit Iqbal, the founder of Delivery Chacha, will move to Careem, ProPakistani has learnt.

Founded back in June 2014, Delivery Chacha claims to have completed half a million delivery orders, ranging from food deliveries, bill payments, cinema tickets, grocery shopping, dropping off wedding cards to guests and even clothes to the tailors.

“The vision for DC and Careem is similar I believe — empowering our customers — and we both have enjoyed taking risks to do so”, Nashit was quoted in a statement issued by the company.

The move indicates that Careem is now going to get into delivery business as well. With its Bike service launched just recently, Careem is going to use Delivery Chacha’s background to get its delivery service up and running.

Careem, which is evidently trying various verticals – unlike Uber that remains focused on its core area of expertise – is reportedly working on a range of things. Delivery service within the city, could be one of them.

With a bunch of services, Careem is set to widen its scope and become a single-window solution for a variety of challenges faced by regular individuals.
