HARIPUR, Aug 24: Provincial Minister for Sports and Culture Raja Faisal Zaman has taken a strong exception to the delay in the execution of development schemes under the Tameer-i-Sarhad Programme and warned the officials of the Services and Works department of stern action if the PC-1 of these schemes were not completed within six days.
The directives to this effect were issued by the minister at a meeting held at the District Council Complex here to review the progress of the schemes being executed under the Tameer-i-Sarhad programme.
During the meeting, the minister was informed that the delay in the execution of development schemes recommended and forwarded by the MPAs of Haripur was mainly due to the Works and Services Department which had failed to complete the PC-1s of these projects.
The minister took a strong notice of the situation and warned the district head of the department of strict action if all the PC-1s of the proposed schemes were not completed and put up to the department concerned within six days.
The provincial government has earmarked Rs20 million for the Tameer-i-Sarhad programme, while all the four MPAs of Haripur have forwarded over 150 development schemes which would be completed with the help of the district government in Haripur.
However, the Works and Services Department has completed only 15 PC-1s of these schemes which irritated the local MPAs.
District Nazim Dr Raja Amir Zaman, who was also present on the occasion, also expressed his dissatisfaction over the performance of the Works Department and asked it to comply with the orders so that the misunderstanding between the MPAs and the district government could be brought to an end.
He said delay in the execution of these schemes was being considered as obstacles deliberately created by the district government by some MPAs, but it was not the case as the local government wanted to cooperate with the MPAs and the provincial government.
