ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has notified reduction in sales tax rate on import of finished goods of textile and leather.
A notification SRO1070 was issued on Monday by amending the SRO1125 of 2011. As per decision, the sales tax was reduced to 6 per cent from standard 17pc on import of these finished products for consumption in domestic market.

On one hand, govt has imposed regulatory duty on more than 350 items to control the ever increasing trade deficit and now it has reduced the GST on products which are not meant for common man. It must be for the benefits of influential importers..

FBR cruelty issued SRO to increase duty on hundred of items to control the
trade deficit, by this decision we are hurting the local manufacture and putting burden on import bill also.

Exports of cotton products must be encouraged, by offering incentives. Pak cotton products share needs to be improved in international markets.
