Economic security

THE money we are getting from overseas in the form of remittances is showing signs of weaknesses. The GCC, Europe, the US, the UK and the rest of the world are sending remittances amounting to $19.303 billion (Dawn, Business and Finance).

As the world progresses, economies are becoming knowledge-based such as technology financial management and E-information. Skilled workforce high-capacity professionals, besides other non-human experts, are necessary for economic development, as well as for reducing the public debit, of the country.

Other South Asian countries are offering value-added services with reduced rates, making the situation tough for Pakistanis in the international job market. One billion investment on capacity enhancement of exportable work force would bring more than Rs50 billion due to multiplier effect. The example of China, Korea, Singapore, Bangladesh, India and Malaysia is already there as examples of progress due to main focus on human resource.

CPEC projects cannot be completed without local skilled workers and engineers with competent managers to increase productivity which is vital for enhanced production. This can be possible through a substantial investment by govt. and private sectors on institutions which are giving technical and vocational education. Skilled and professional people will help improve relations and image on regional and international level. Social uplift through modern education lead to economic security ultimately to strong national Security.
