LAKKI MARWAT: The local people have asked the district administration to activate parent-teacher councils and ensure presence of teachers in schools and doctors at public sector hospitals.

They made the demand during a Khuli Kutcheri held in town hall building here on Thursday. The district administration had organised the public session on the directives of chief secretary for on spot solution of people’s problems.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Bakhtiar Khan and heads of line departments were present on the occasion. A large number of women also participated in the open public session.

The residents of urban and rural localities highlighted their problems.

Locals demand presence of teachers, doctors on duty

“The inhabitants of rural areas are confronted with the problem of shortage of drinking water as tubewells are out of order,” said a participant of the session.

Another participant said that there was dire need to activate parent-teacher councils in government schools to ensure transparent utilisation of funds. He asked the authorities to overcome shortage of teachers in government schools.

The participants of the session alleged that doctors remained absent from duty in the district. They asked government to take notice of pollution caused by a cement factory located in Darra Pezu town of the district.

The deputy commissioner issued orders on the spot for solution to the problems and directed heads of the departments to submit progress report within 24 hours.

He also directed authorities concerned to repair broken tubewells without any delay. He said that truant government employees would face stern action.

He called upon the people to keep an eye on uplift works in their respective localities and report use of substandard material and misuse of developmental funds.

MPA: The ANP leader and former MPA, Yasmeen Zia, has called upon the people to reject traditional politicians in the upcoming general elections as they are responsible for the backwardness of the district.

She also criticised the incumbent government for not launching any development project in the district. She claimed that the previous government of ANP utilised funds of over Rs2 billion to construct educational institutions, roads and bridges in the district.
