ISLAMABAD: Star players of the country will be seen in action when the Subh-e-Nau National Clay Court Tennis Championship starts at the Syed Dilawar Abbas Tennis Complex here on Sunday.

Aqeel Khan, Pakistan’s longest serving tennis legend, will lead the pack of more than one hundred players taking part in the six-day championship in which contests will be held in six different categories, says a press release issued here on Thursday.

Shahida Kausar Farooq, chairperson of the event organising committee, said Subh-e-Nau, will be hosting its third tennis event of 2017. A women’s tournament and a national hardcourt event have already been organised by Subh-e-Nau this year.

Matches would be held in men’s singles, men’s doubles, ladies singles, boys junior U-18, boys U-14 and U-10, said the chairperson.

Outstation players will also be paid daily allowances until their elimination from the championship.

Players can contact Shehzad Akhtar Alvi, the tournament referee, at 0333-5158971 for entries and further details. They can also send their entries to Subh-e-Nau office at 051-4432194 and 0321-7059269.

The last date for entering the championship is Oct 20 (Friday). Draws will be taken out on Saturday while finals of the tournament will be played on Oct 27.
