PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Athletics Association president Habib-ur-Rehman Afridi on Wednesday said that the trials for selection of its team for the upcoming National Youth and Junior Athletics Championships will be organised on October 21 here at the Qayyum Sports Complex.

He said a 22- to 24-member squad will be short-listed after open trials. The National Youth and Junior Athletics Championship begins from October 28.

Habib said that in this connection a selection committee headed by former international athlete Iqbal Shinwari with other members comprising Mohammad Iqbal, Fayyaz Gul, international athlete Muhammad Shah, international coach Syed Jaffar Shah, Inam Khan, Arif Zaman and Abdul Khan will thoroughly monitor the performance of the players before short-listing them for the final squad.
