Sindh Open swimming from Saturday

KARACHI: The Sindh Swimming Association (SSA) is organising the 56th Sindh Open Swimming Championship from Saturday here at Karachi Gymkhana, it was announced on Wednesday.

The two-day championship is the largest sporting event of the province with over 400 contestants from schools, colleges and clubs expected to participate, added the announcement.

The swimmers at the championship will compete in six age-group categories -- 8 and under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16 and the open age group.

The event also includes special races for swimmers from the special Olympics squad. The championship will also have an inclusive race featuring both special swimmers and competitors from the participating schools and clubs.

The opening ceremony will be held at 8:30am at Karachi Gymkhana on Saturday while the closing ceremony will be staged on Sunday at 4:30pm.

The championship winners will qualify for the National Junior Age Group Championship scheduled to be hosted by Karachi in November.
