GUJRAT: The Punjab government has decided to provide double cabin 3000cc jeeps to all assistant commissioners across the province in relaxation of rules. Earlier, the ACs were entitled to use vehicles not higher than 1000cc.

According to a notification issued by the finance department on Tuesday, the Board of Revenue has been informed that Rs656 million have been released for payment to a motor company for the purchase of 147 vehicles for official use of all ACs.

The notification said the department had released funds in relaxation of Rule 2.10(b) of Punjab Financial Rules Vol 1 subject to the observance of all rules and fulfillment of all codal legal and procedural formalities.

A board official said currently the ACs were using 1000cc cars that were in a poor condition. Therefore, the government had decided to provide better vehicles to the field revenue and administrative officers.
