GUJRANWALA, Aug 22: Wapda chairman Lt-Gen Zulfiqar Ali Khan (retired) has constituted a committee to inquire into the accusations of electricity theft by prime minister’s political adviser Rana Nazir Ahmad.

He directed the team to submit a report at the earliest, it is learnt here on Friday.

Sources said the committee, comprising high-ups, would conduct a probe to ascertain the veracity of charges levelled against Rana Nazir and members of his family. Police have already registered a case against them.

The inquirers will record the statements of the chief suspect, members of his family and his servants, and Gujranwala Electric Power Company officials before reviewing the removed meters and other equipment, which he had used for the purpose.

Receiving information about the power pilferage by the PM’s adviser, a joint team of military intelligence and Gepco raided his Wahando village and detected theft two days ago.

BODY FOUND: A beheaded and decomposed body of a woman packed in a sack was found from the small industrial estate here on Friday.

Some passersby spotted the suspected sack which was lying on the garbage at the main road of the small industrial estate and informed the Model Town police about it.

The police rushed to the spot and found the beheaded body of the woman, who was yet to be identified. Police sent the body to the local DHQ Hospital for autopsy.

It was suspected that the deceased was raped and then killed by some unidentified accused to conceal their crime.

Police have registered a case against unidentified accused and are investigating.
