KARACHI, Aug 22: Sindh Minister for Communication and Works Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that the government has initiated a number of steps for the welfare and betterment of artists and writers.

The minister was speaking as chief guest at a cultural show, organized by the Sindh Artists Welfare Trust in collaboration with the provincial culture department and arts council.

Mr Rahim said that programmes from such organizations should be frequently held. He said that artists used to foster the message of peace and love.

On the occasion, Sindh Culture Minister Shabbir Ahmed Qaimkhani said that this was the land of sufis and saints, who had fostered the message of love. To promote their messages, he said, the government would extend all incentives to writers, intellectuals and artists.

Noted intellectual, Ali Ahmed Brohi, and the organizer of the programme, A. Hameed Bhutto, also spoke on the occasion.—APP
