Ex-MPA papers rejected

JHANG, Aug 21: Nomination papers of former provincial fisheries minister Sheikh Hakim Ali, a candidate for the office of Jhang tehsil Naib Nazim, were rejected on Thursday due to his fake matriculation certificate.

However, his papers were accepted after scrutiny for the office of the district naib nazim by the returning officer on Wednesday.

The papers of Arshad Gujjar, Mushtaq Ahmad Baloch, Muhammad Sakhi Naul, Muneer Ahmad, Sultan Sikander Bharwana and Tahir Abbas Sail were cleared after scrutiny.

Nomination papers of all the candidates for the office of the district naib nazim were accepted after scrutiny by returning officer Sheikh Rashid Ahmad. The candidates were Asad Hayat, Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoob, Sheikh Hakim Ali, Malik Iftikhar and Khawar Sipra.

Byelections are scheduled to be held on Sept 8.
