KARACHI, Jan 5: Twelve vehicles — six cars and an equal number of motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Saturday, a spokesman for the Central Police Office said.
Two cars were hijacked in district East. Four others were stolen in districts East, South and Central.
Three motorcycles were hijacked in districts East and South. Three others were stolen in districts Central, East and West.
ROBBERIES: Five robberies were committed in the city on Saturday, the police said.
Two bandits relieved two women of Rs200,000, gold jewellery and their other belongings in Samanabad police limits. Sajida Saeed, who came from abroad, went to a money changer, with Shahida Khurshid, to get foreign currency converted into Pakistani rupee. When they were returning home in Samanabad’s Block-19, two men, travelling in a Suzuki Cultus car, robbed them of the money and belongings. When Ejaz Hyder, Shahida’s son, came out of the house and put up resistance to the bandits, they fired at him and fled. Ejaz escaped unhurt.
The police said that the car had been hijacked in Ferozabad police limits. They registered the case and got the sketches of the suspects prepared. However, no arrest had been made till our going to the press.
Four bandits broke into Badiuzzaman’s house in Airport police limits, held the family as hostage at gunpoint, collected cash, gold jewellery and other valuables and fled with the loot.
Robbers barged into Mohammad Asim’s house in Saeedabad, made the family hostage at gunpoint, and got away with cash, gold jewellery and other valuables.
Asif Mehmood lodged a report at Azizabad police station that two armed men intercepted him and robbed him of cash and belongings.
