Water projects rejected

SUKKUR, Aug 21: Activists of the People’s Party Parliamentarian staged a rally in Thul town on Wednesday against anti-Sindh projects of Thal canal, Kala Bagh and Basha dams.

They also marched through the main roads of the town and observed a token hunger strike outside the press club.

On the occasion, Thul PPP president Ameer Bhambhro deplored the comments of President Musharraf on Kala Bagh and Bhasha dam that they would benefit agriculture of the country and said: “The projects are the death warrant for water- starved Sindh.

Ashraf Noonari said the people of Sindh would resist the construction of Kala Bagh dam as they were opposing the Thal canal.

Saeed Khoso alleged Thal canal was being constructed to irrigate the lands of army men.

Waseem Pathan, Rafiq Ahmed, Wazir Baloch, Riaz Noonari and Sattar Noonari also spoke on the occasion.
