ISLAMABAD: The government has released over Rs141.17 billion under its Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the fiscal year 2017-18 for various ongoing and new schemes against their total allocations of Rs1001bn.
The released funds include Rs37.63bn for federal ministries and Rs 15.31bn for special areas, according to latest data of Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform.
Out of these allocations, Rs2.6bn have been released for Communication Division (other than National Highway Authority) for which the government has earmarked Rs13.66bn under PSDP 2017-18.
Railways Division received Rs8.63bn out of its total allocation of Rs42.9bn whereas Aviation Division received Rs623.14m out of its total allocation of Rs4.34bn.
The government also released an amount of Rs6.5bn for various development projects of Higher Education Commission out of total allocation of Rs35.66bn.
Water and Power Division (water sector) received Rs7.35bn out of its total allocation of Rs36.75bn under PSDP 2017-18.
The government also released Rs1.48bn for the National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Division, for which an amount of Rs48.70bn have been allocated in the federal PSDP 2017-18 while Rs46m have been released for the Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority out of its total allocations of Rs409.55m.
An amount of Rs300m have been released for Finance Division out of its total allocations of Rs20.14bn while Rs163m have been released for Climate Change Division out of its total allocations of Rs815m for the current year.
Similarly an amount of Rs1.94bn have been released for Petroleum and Natural Resource Division out of its allocations of Rs3.69bn, Rs223.7m for Planning, Development and Reform Division out of its allocations of Rs10.86bn whereas Rs500m have been released for Suparco out of its allocations of Rs3.5bn.
Likewise, the government also released Rs61m for Human Rights Division, and Rs322m for National Food Security and Research Division.
The government released Rs4.04bn for AJK (block and other projects) out of its allocations of Rs25.34bn, Rs6.12bn for Gilgit Baltistan (block and other projects) out of its allocations of Rs18.3bn whereas Rs5.14bn have been released for SAFRON/FATA (Block and other projects) out of its total allocations of Rs26.90bn for the FY18.
The government also released Rs30bn for Prime Minister’s Global SDGs Achievement Programme whereas Rs900m have been released for Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) out of its total allocations of Rs7.5bn.
An amount of Rs3.91bn have been released for Prime Minister’s Youth Hunarmand Programme out of its total allocations of Rs20bn, according to the data.
The Planning Commission of Pakistan has been following a proper mechanism for the release of funds and accordingly funds are released as per given mechanism.
The commission releases 20pc of funds in first quarter (July-September), 20pc in second quarter (October-December), 25pc third quarter (January-March) and 35pc in fourth quarter (April-June).
