KARACHI, Aug 20: Some 24 government and private schools along the coastal belt of Karachi will reopen on Thursday, August 21.
These institutions were earlier scheduled to open on August 18 after the summer vacation, but the city government extended the holidays for three more days because of the oil spill from the Greek oil tanker Tasman Spirit.
People had started leaving their residences, and the beach area was closed for visitors by the authorities after it was disclosed that they people of the area were suffering from respiratory disorders.
After consulting experts, city Nazim Naimatullah Khan had asked the department concerned to extend the vacation for these schools up to August 20, and wait for the clearance from the authorities to allow reopening.—PPI
