KARACHI, Aug 20: Doctors would be forced to call a strike if the authorities failed to take worthwhile action against the killers of the two doctors, who were gunned down recently in Karachi, said the Pakistan Medical Association on Wednesday.
In a press release, the PMA also demanded that police pickets should be set up in and around hospitals and clinics to protect doctors.
It said the authorities, if serious, could catch the perpetrators of all kinds of crime, including murders. They got hold of the Daniel Pearl’s killers. And they had nabbed a number of suspected Taliban members, added the press release.
They should try their best to arrest the killers of the two doctors, who were gunned down recently in Karachi, said the PMA’s handout. The government did not seem serious in stopping the targeted killings, it added.
The two doctors’ killing was nothing but a failure of the law-enforcement officials to ensure the supremacy of law and order, added the press release.
