THE retired PIA employees are suffering greatly as officials concerned have let them down. As the salaries of the employees have been increased comprehensively, there is a need for immediately increasing the pension of retirees.

Almost every year there is an increase in the pensions of the federal and provincial government employees at the time of budget, but this doesn’t happen in PIA.

The national airline gives its employees 32pc of their total salary as pension but the formula applied calculates the pension on their basic pay. This is not fair.

The retirees have been demanding for a long time that the airline should either give them a 50pc pension on the basic pay or 32pc pension on their total salaries, without the said formula.
