KARACHI, Aug 20: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has taken a serious notice of the non-implementation of the directives issued from time to time from the Governor’s House, and asked the department concerned to submit a report within 10 days about directives implemented so far and those put in abeyance along with reasons for the delay.

Governor Ibad, before his departure to Jeddah for performing Umra, held a meeting with the secretaries concerned to review the progress on the directives issued by him and Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar in the wake of complaints that the administrative machinery instead of implementing the directives and instructions put them in abeyance on one pretext or the other.

The most glaring example of the inordinate delay in implementing the directives was the Rs1 million grant which was announced by former governor Mohammedmian Soomro last year to the Anti-Terrorists Training Centre at the Police Training Institute, Razzaqabad, Karachi. Not only that this grant was not released to the centre, even the grant announced by incumbent Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad four months back was yet to be disbursed to the centre.

Likewise, the Rs2.5 million grant announced for the Children Hospital at Shadman Town about three months back was yet to be cleared by the department concerned.

Stressing the urgency of disbursement of the grant, the governor pointed out that grants were made in hardship cases to provide relief to the victims and as such ought to be paid on time to the needy, otherwise not only its purpose was lost if paid after delays but also cast aspersion on the performance and governance of the government.

KITE: The Korangi Industrial Trading Estate will be developed on the pattern of Sindh Industrial Trading Estate. KITE will be made an autonomous body under the supervision of the city district government Karachi. The necessary legal process has already been initiated in this regard in accordance with the Sindh Local Government Ordinance, 2000, a meeting was informed on Tuesday.

DCO Mir Hussain Ali informed the governor that the law department had already prepared a draft notification which would be made public within a week.

Mr S.M. Muneer of the Korangi Industrial Estate told Dawn that a delegation of KITE met the governor two days back and requested him to issue necessary notification to form the KITE on the pattern of SITE.

The delegation also drew his attention towards dilapidated conditions of roads.
