ISLAMABAD: Members of seven National Assembly Standing Committees elected on Thursday new chairpersons of the committees.

Posts of the chairpersons of five standing committees fell vacant after their chairpersons were inducted into the federal cabinet of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi whereas other offices fell vacant due to a change in the composition of the committees made by National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq.

During a meeting held at the Parliament House, MNA Mian Abdul Mannan was elected chairman of the Committee on Housing and Works, Dr Shezra Mansab Ali Khan Kharral chairperson of Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, Shagufta Jumani head of Committee on Religious Affairs and Inter-faith Harmony, Mr Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon chairman of the Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges, Dr Hafeezur Rehman Khan Drishak head of Committee on National Health Services, Malik Muhammad Uzair Khan head of Committee on Climate Change and Khalid Hussain Magsi head of the Committee on Water Resources.
