SAHIWAL: Within hour when he delivered the concluding speech at the historic public gathering in Sahiwal and returned to his host Zaki Chaudhry’s house late on Wednesday, PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zaradari was super surprised to find that a birthday cake was waiting for him.

Amid the thundering applause of district party workers, office bearers and family members of Mr Chaudhry, Mr Bhutto-Zardari cut the cake and said he was not expecting that his 29th birthday was going to be celebrated by diehard party workers, Mr Chaudhry told Dawn on Thursday.

Earlier, the PPP leader also cut a 20-pound cake at the rally in front of the charged crowd amid deafening slogans of ‘Happy birthday to you, Bilawal’.

The cake was arranged by the workers. After the late night birthday party, the participants made selfies with Bilawal. Also, the young leader met tea seller Shakeel, alias Sheela, who reportedly distributed free tea, made from 200 litre milk, to the rally participants at his stall near Pir Bokhari Graveyard, which is decorated with portraits of party founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto and Bilawal.

At the residence of party stalwart Ghulam Farid Kathiya, where Bilawal was hosted a dinner, he met the tea stall vendor and also gave him Rs25,000.
