KARACHI: Barring just one fixture in the PCB Under-19 Inter-region National Cricket Championship, the remaining six fourth-round matches yielded conclusive results on Wednesday.

Peshawar — inspired by paceman Mohammad Ilyas’ excellent second-innings figures of 6-59 in 26 overs — outclassed Rawalpindi by seven wickets in their Group ‘A’ encounter at the NBP Sports Complex.

Fata crushed Hyderabad by eight wickets at the Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad where the hosts, who had earned 3-run lead on the first innings, mustered just 48 all out in their second innings.

A rich haul of 13 wickets from leg-spinner Salman Shafqat spurred Faisalabad to an easy 134-run victory against Larkana in the Group ‘B’ game at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.

Salman bettered his 6-45 on day one by grabbing seven wickets for 45 runs in 16.3 overs as Larkana were bowled out for 108 in the second innings with Salman finishing with a match bag of 13-76 in 30.1 overs.

Lahore Blues completed a comprehensive innings and 26-run defeat of Bahawalpur at the LCCA Ground in Lahore.

Quetta turned the tables on Abbottabad at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium with a creditable eight-run success. Chasing 243, the hosts were dismissed for 234 with off-spinner picking up four wickets in each innings.

Islamabad handed Sialkot a 114-run loss at the latter’s home territory of Jinnah Stadium in Sialkot to stay in for place in the triangular stage from Group ‘C’.

Lahore Whites escaped certain defeat by hanging on for a draw against Dera Murad Jamali at the KRL Stadium in Rawalpindi.

Set a gettable target of 165, Lahore Whites ended up making 141-9 despite Saad Jamil (33) and Fahad Munir (50) adding 72 for the opening wicket.

Saeed Ahmed led from the front in a fine bowling performance. The Dera Murad Jamali skipper snared six wickets for 64 runs.

Karachi Blues and Karachi Whites had on Tuesday defeated Azad Jammu Kashmir and Multan, respectively, in less than two days of play.

The last round of league matches begins from Friday.
