LARKANA: Ghinwa Bhutto, chairperson of Pakistan Peoples Party-Shaheed Bhutto, has proposed holding a ‘national dialogue’ to thoroughly discuss the burning issue of terrorism and rejected allegations linking Pakistan to terrorist organisations.

Ms Bhutto said during a speech at a large gathering in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto held to mark the 21st death anniversary of Mir Murtaza Bhutto on Wednesday that the world was doing injustice to Pakistan by heaping all blame for ‘terrorism’ on the country, which had been fighting against the menace for more than a decade.

She said that Pakistan alone could not be held responsible for fighting the evil which had become a global issue and the world’s powerful countries like the United States and European countries were better equipped to fight it.

She said that PPP-SB was formed on the idea of sending real representatives of people to parliament. One day the decaying system would change, she said.

She said the present PPP was not the original party founded by Z.A. Bhutto since it had deviated from its principles and the ideology of Bhuttoism. People were not free to exercise their right of franchise and their vote was being robbed at gunpoint, she said.

She said that PPP-SB would not enter into alliance with any political party in the upcoming general elections and said it looked unfair to ally with the political parties which were backed by police and foreign forces.

She asked people to forge unity in their ranks to inflict a humiliating defeat on “a minority of upper class clique” that had occupied their resources.

She said that she saluted China, Iran and Lebanon for their role in fighting against terrorism and urged China to make investment in pro-people projects, especially in power sector, in Pakistan to help provide cheap electricity to people. China and Russia were important allies who should have inked agreements with pro-people rulers, she said.

She said the death anniversary of martyrs of 70 Clifton should be observed collectively.

Other party leaders, including PPP-SB Sindh president Ali Ahmed Palipoto, Saleem Shah, Ms Feroza Lashari and Moazzim Iqbal, also spoke at the gathering which was held amid tight security arrangements.

Resolutions

The gathering passed a number of resolutions, demanding the government unveil investigation reports of terror incidents.

A resolution welcomed Pakistan’s newfound bonhomie with Russia and said that if such a policy had been adopted at the time of 9/11 incident it would have made a world of difference.

The gathering condemned the massacre of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar and Houthi tribe in Yemen and expressed concerns over nuclear actions of North Korea.

It held rulers responsible for the presence of terrorists’ network in educational institutions and said the disease was caused by decades-old ban on students unions.
