GHALANAI: The residents of border areas of Mohmand Agency have been urged to send their children to school as education can play a key role in their region’s development.

This was stated by additional political agent Hamid-ur-Rehman while speaking at a function organised in connection with the start of a school enrolment drive organised by the agency education department at the government middle school, Bahi Daag, in the bordering Biazai subdivision on Tuesday.

In this connection, a walk was also arranged which was also participated by agency education officer Faridullah, assistant agency education officer Mohammad Ali, students, teachers, and local tribesmen. The participants were holding banners inscribed with slogans calling for parents to send their children to school. Speaking at the function, APA Rehman also announced upgradation of the school to high level.

“Through education we can defeat the menace of poverty and extremism,” he stressed. He added a society could not develop without education. He asked the teachers to attend to duties regularly and impart quality education to students.

On the occasion, agency education officer Faridullah said members of civil society, teachers, elected representatives and local tribesmen should make joint efforts to make the enrolment drive a success.
