KARACHI: Karachi Blues and Karachi Whites continued their upward surged in the PCB Under-19 Inter-region National Cricket Championship by chalking up comfortable two-day victories on Tuesday.

After their thrilling five-run triumph against Peshawar last Saturday, Karachi Blues romped to an innings and 85-run win against Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) in their fourth-round Group ‘A’ match at the SBP Sports Complex.

Leg-spinning all-rounder Ashar Qureshi snared a rich haul of 11 wickets, including figures of 5-64 on Tuesday’s second day, after having grabbed six for 31 on Monday to send AJK reeling to 77 all out.

Haider Ali dominated Karachi Blues’ total of 336-7 with an undefeated knock of 105, while Anas Ilyas contributed 88.

After being held by bad weather in the opening two rounds, Karachi Whites cantered to a second successive 10-wicket success with Multan being their hapless victims this time.

After bowling out Multan for a measly first-innings tally of just 84 on Monday with paceman Mohammad Makki claiming 7-50 in 16 overs at the Mirpur Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Karachi Whites rode on Syed Amin’s second straight century (110 off 112 balls, 17 fours and one six) to collect 263 all out in only 46.5 overs.

Multan then subsided to 191 all out in their second innings. The damage, on this occasion, was caused by fast bowler Mohammad Ali Khan who returned brilliant analysis of 7-37 in 15 overs.
