KARACHI: Mayor Wasim Akhtar on Monday called upon leaders of religious parties and groups belonging to various sects to play their role in maintaining peace and harmony during Muharram.

Addressing a meeting with leaders of various religious parties, groups and charities at the KMC building, Mr Akhtar said that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and other municipal bodies in the city would be there to solve the civic problems during Muharram.

A separate helpline had been dedicated at the KMC for everyone who would have issues including carpeting of streets, sanitation, water supply and street lights, etc, in the holy month, the mayor added.
